 Created by Friedrich Eduardovich Faltz-Fein who also founded the Askania Nova Nature Reserve. Friedrich built this place when his wife died at a very young age. It was intended to be the burial place of him and his family as they died. Unfortunatly for them the Soviet Union came to power and in 1919 the Askania Nova Park was confiscated from the family and they were forced to flee. All of them fled except for Friedrichs mother who refused and she went to the crypt, before it could be opened by the army, she took the bones of Friedrich’s wife and secretly buried them. Since them the crypt has been empty and slowly deteriorating.
