House with Chimaeras, also known as Horodecki House
This interesting building is an Art Nouveau building, constructed by the Polish architect Wladyslaw Horodecki for his own use in 1901 to 1902.
The name refers to an architectural style known as chimaera decoration, where animal figures are applied as decorative elements. The sculptures inside and outside were sculpted by the Italian Sculptor Emilio Sala.
If you turn around and look on the other side of the street, you will see the building where the President of Ukraine has his office. The House with Chimaeras is now used for official and diplomatic ceremonies, which must be very convenient for the Ukrainian President as he just has to cross the street to get there.
