Memorial to War with Sweden

In 1709 there was a large battle here, The Battle of Poltava. Over 7,000 Swedish died here during the battle and were buried in the surrounding marsh land. To mark 200th anniversary of the battle there was this monument erected by the Russian government in honor of the Swedish that died here.
