St George Redoubt

Built during the Crimean Wars to protect Mykoliav this would have been a huge earthen fortress essentially. It was made and inside out of lived over 15,000 soldiers and all their weapons of war along with all provisions they would need to live. Now it looks like little more than huge mounds of earth but to consider all of this earth was moved by hand it is impressive. On top of one of the earthen mounds is a memorial to all those who fought in the Crimean Wars.
