Holy Ascension Banchen Monastery

This is the most spectacular monastery you will find in Ukraine! From what we were told this is the most famous monastery for the wealthy to donate money to. You can tell as you walk inside the main church it is covered in gold! The light glittering off the gold is almost blinding! 

Founded in 1994 this men’s monastery is Russian Orthodox all services are performed in Russian or Romanian. It is one of the largest Orthadox churches in Ukraine. There is also an orphanage here where around 400 children live including a portion of which are disabled or have HIV. 

The church is worth visiting if even close to the area. It is truly breathtaking.
