Holy Protection Church fortified XIV-XVIII centuries.

This church was a spectacular highlight of our day! Not only did we get to see this fortress turned into a church but we were able to explore the basement and attic of the church also! Built in the mid 1400’s as a fortress but quickly turned into a church this place has stood the test of time. Shut down for most of the 20th century due to the no religion policy of the Soviet Union. It was opened again in 1991 and some restoration work conducted until funds ran out. Now it is in normal use with church services held regularly.
