Ostrog Castle

A nice castle with a still functioning church attached. There are tours available to go through the castle but when we visited there was a huge group of children going on the tour so we decided to forego the tour inside. 

Built in the 1560’s. through the years it passed between many hands and slowly the castle wall was torn down and rebuilt smaller. During WW2 it was used as a gathering point for young people who were then sent to Germany for labor camps. After the war it was briefly a museum before abandoned until 2010 when restoration was started and continued to this day.
